    School Reopening...

I suddenly realise that i am starting school tomorrow.

What the fuck? Holiday ended? Just like that?

Luckily i have no holiday assignments...

    F1 in Singapore

After waiting so long, F1 has finally arrived in Singapore.

This year, it is very special as not only this is the FIRST time Singapore is holding the F1, it is the FIRST time in F1 history that a race is held at night.

    Cool.

    Wow.

Really, i am starting to regret that i didn't get any tickets for the event. I mean, really, you HAVE to be there, at the place itself to experience the atmosphere. Even if you can't see the cars zoom by, just hearing the roar of the engine is something exciting. Can you imagine what you are hearing is produced by the fastest cars in the world racing right at your doorstep? Wow. Only guys will understand the "high" feeling of seeing a F1 car zooming pass your eyes and the accompanying roar of the engine. Shiok sia.

I am so going to get a ticket next year. Ya.

On a side note, There is a saying that in soccer, anything is possible because the ball is round. Similarly, to me, my saying is that in F1, anything is possible too because the wheels are round and F1 Singapore proved my words.

F1 Singapore proved to be damn exciting, throwing up lots of surprise and lots of drama. In fact, drama is everywhere, from the pit stop to the track. Fernando Alonso must be in tears on both Sat and Sun night, tears of sadness on one, tears of joy on the other after winning the race he felt impossible to win, especially when he is starting at the 15th position. Massa, who got the pole position, finished second from last and for the first time, Ferrari get ZERO points from a race which also saw 6 drivers failing to complete due to car error or accident.

What a disaster night for Ferrari, especially Massa. The Ferrari team will want to forget this night as soon as possible and i am damn sure they hate Singapore now.

    Joke of the Day...

A bus carrying a mathematician, a poet and a retard crashed into a tree, killing all 3 of them.

They are about to enter Heaven when they are stopped by the Devil before the Pearly gates. The Devil told them. "Shoot me any question you desire and i will let you pass if i fail to answer. If not, you will rot in hell forever!"

The poet ask the Devil the most different literature question ever. The Devil simply clicked his fingers and 10 greatest poet of all time appeared and answer the question flawlessly. And down went the poet.

The mathematician ask the most complicated maths question ever. The Devil again clicked his fingers and a whole table full of mathematics reference books appeared. After a while, the Devil solved the question perfectly and down went the mathematician.

The retard first requested for a chair with many holes on it. Than he sat down on it and let out a loud fart. Than he asked the Devil which hole did the fart passed through.

The Devil thought for a while, before hesitantly replying, "The 7th hole?"

    "No. From my arsehole"

    Lee Mei's Departure...

Lee Mei left for Berlin, Germany today to start on her new job. It is kind of sad to see her walk through the departure gate alone, leaving her family and friends behind to pursue her career.

One part of me is proud of her because it is not everyday you have the courage to walk out of Singapore to pursue something. Another part of me is filled with envy, cause she is going Europe, for whatever damn sake and not some ulu or backward country.

But, i guess, the dominant feeling is still a tinge of sadness. I mean, i know her since i was 15 or 16 and has worked with her for at least 3 to 4 years. No doubt, there are times we have conflicts but most of the time is filled with happy memories. It is a joy working with her for Kenshus or outings and she always never fail to touch me with her overflowing compassion.

Right now, i just want to wish her bon voyage and that she will adapt quickly to the new environment, which i know she will. Just don't bring back a German husband. Haha

    Europe, here i come!

After seeing this piece of news, a decision comes to mind immediately.

I am going to visit Berlin, Paris and London before i reach 26.

And i have 5 years to do it.

Watch me man, i will do it.

    Europe, here i come!!!

Recently, there is this hype about milk products from China being unsafe for consumption by humans, especially kids.

In this age of globalization, China must realize that any problem with their produce, be it minor or major, is going to affect the whole world. Simply because majority of the goods sold worldwide comes from China.

What is more disheartening is that this is not the first time we heard about China's products being unsafe for use. Sometimes, when i look at a food product and it says "Made In China", i can't help but think whether is it safe for use. Yes, i have full confidence in AVA but not in the country where my food originate from. I can't imagine how lousy the feeling must be when you cannot even trust your own local produce.

Now, i can't even enjoy my favourite dairy products and chocolate in peace. And it hurts, especially when i am a big sucker for anything that has milk in it.

Just imagine this. If i am going to stop buying dairy products because of this poisoned milk scandal and my thoughts are echoed around the world, can you imagine the losses retailers, suppliers and manufacturers suffer? Add this to the global financial woes the world is suffering now and really, i can't see any hope in the next 5 years.

I really hope China clean up her act soon. China must realize that her every action is watched by the world and any scandal is sure to send shock waves around the globe.

    Joke of the Day...

After the annual office Christmas party blow-out, John woke up with a pounding headache, cotton-mouthed, and utterly unable to recall the events of the preceding evening.

After a trip to the bathroom he was able to make his way downstairs, where his wife put some coffee in front of him.

"Louise," he moaned, "tell me what went on last night. Was it as bad as I think?"

"Even worse," she assured him in her most scornful one. "You made a complete jerk of yourself, succeeded in antagonizing the entire board of directors, and insulted the chairman of the company to his face."

"He's an arrogant, self-important pig, piss on him!"

"You did. All over his suit," Louise informed him. "And he fired you."

    "Well, screw him," said John.

"I did. You're back at work on Monday."

    Economic Crisis

The global economy is getting from bad to worse.

Not too long ago, Merrill Lynch was bought over by the Bank Of America.

The Lehman Brothers file for bankruptcy.

And now, Morgan Stanley is desperately looking for someone so it can stay alive.

Ouch. As financial giants fall one by one, one can't help but think that this global economy meltdown is going to last at least till next year and everyone is feeling the heat.

We may cruise out of this crisis, eventually but are we able to break the curse of suffering an economic crisis every 10 years?

    21st Celebration

First of all, i got to say... i am really touched. The little gesture may seem nothing but to me, it has the significant meaning of making me feel i am alive in this world and not just any other faceless person in the world. Thanks guys! Really really appreciate it.

And, on a sarcastic note, THANKS huh. My stomach almost died on me and to think i have to 灌 Cordon Bleu and Chivas without any mixer on an empty stomach. Wah piang.

Oh... on another side note, i don't really know how to convey the 'surprise' expression lah... haha. But yes, it is both a surprise and a shock when 2 fatty and 2 bamboo emerged from a tent i overlooked previously. Wah lao. 剉屎.

To the uninitiated, let me relate to you in brief what happened on Fri, 12 Sept 2008 at East Coast.

Well, after chanting we went to East Coast to drink.

Upon reaching an empty BBQ pit, Kang Wei, Sherlyn, Clarence and Fang Fang emerged from nowhere(i realised the nowhere is a tent later on) with a birthday cake.

So ya, the usual stuff goes on, you know, cutting the cake, presenting of present and stuff when Chee Kiat brought out a suspicious looking bottle.

It turned out to be Cordon Bleu and wah lao, i have to drink half of it with no mixer.

After that, Kang Wei brought out his Chivas and wah lao, it is another round of toasting, again no mixer.

Halfway through, my stomach started a revolution and i threw up like i never threw up before.

By this time, i was drifting in and out of consciousness cause i could occasionally hear the chatter of the group but amazingly, i managed to stay awake on the ride home.

And the next thing i know, i am lying on my bed and the time is 13th Sept 2008, 1345. Luckily my hangover is rather light or else i don't know how to attend 2 back-to-back birthday party later.

But it is definitely embarrassing when i know all these while Melvin's professional camera was snapping away. O.o

All in all, i got to say Kang Wei and Wei Chuan are good at keeping this whole thing undercover. Wei Chuan told me on tuesday we are going to drink on friday in celebration of his last friday as a civilian. Oh okay. On wednesday, Kang Wei told me the same thing also but added he will be late due to his FYP meeting. Oh okay. So i was led into believing that friday drinking session was for Wei Chuan. Damn. Am i really that gulible that i suspect nothing at all?

Whatever it is, i sincerely thank the following for making this possible. In no particular order, Kang Wei, Wei Chuan, Clarence, Sherlyn, Fang Fang, Chee Kiat, De Sheng, Zhi Jia, Melvin and Randy. Wah lao! Why we didn't take a group picture??

On yet another side note, i am really confused over my birthday present. Well, this one is rather heart warming.

But what about all these? A tent, an undershirt, a boxer and a box of condoms?! What the hell. What are you guys thinking??

To top it off, they put it inside this box.

Wah piang. How am i ever going to prove my innocence?

    Joke of the Day...

    One for the Ladies

A very attractive lady goes up to a bar in a quiet rural pub. She gestures alluringly to the bartender who comes over immediately. When he arrives, she seductively signals that he should bring his face closer to hers. When he does, she begins to gently caress his full beard.

“Are you the manager?” she asks, softly stroking his face with both hands. “Actually, no,” the man replies.

“Can you get him for me? I need to speak to him,” she says, running her hands beyond his beard and into his hair.

“Can’t,” breathes the bartender. “He’s not here. Is there anything I can do?”

“Yes, there is. I need you to give him a message,” she continues, running her forefinger across the bartender’s lips and slyly popping a couple of her fingers into his mouth and allowing him to suck them gently.

“What should I tell him?” the bartender manages to say.

“Tell him,” she whispers, “there is no toilet paper, hand soap, or paper towels in the ladies room.”

    21st Birthday...

Well, this is it. My 21st birthday. Official entry into the adult's club.

Some celebrate it with style, while some opt for simpler ways of celebration.

Mine must be the most unglamorous way. I am stuck at home and down with a cold. How cool is that? No party, no presents, not even a cake. Just me and the four walls.

But at least i can still make some wishes. Or so i think. The cold is affecting every part of my body and damn, i swear it has freeze parts of my brain. Now my mind is blank and thoughts are minimal.

I am so going to get emo. Very very emo.

Lian He Zao Bao(联和早报) reported that in China there is a family which has produced teachers for a whopping 494 years, spanning 16 generations. Wow! In fact, the family is so famous that in the town they live in, there is a saying about them.

However, due to the fact that teachers in China receive low pay and not-so-good treatment, descendants belonging to the 17th generation are shying away from the education industry, prefering to engage in industries that has better prospects. Wah piang. Does that spell the end of the family glory lasting 16 generations? Wah, if so, very sad man.

Hopefully someone in the family will wake up and become a teacher and not let the glory fade to darkness. I mean, being a teacher is not something shameful. In fact, it is something noble as a teacher shape the future of a nation. 孩子 may be 未来的主人翁, but you need teachers to nurture and guide them so that our future is in safe hands. That is why i hope the family will be able to carry on their so called family business and not let anything break the succession.

    Updates...

    Credits: Grant MacDonald

It has been a while since i do some SERIOUS updating. Yes yes, you may have noticed every tuesday i would put up a video from YouTube and every friday a joke. But... they are not updates. More of like auto-generated posts running on a timetable.

So... i decided to sit down and do a SERIOUS update...
But... being a no-life... hmmm... the post might be short...
    We shall see.

First of all, i am having a break from school. Wow. It is not a very long break la. Well, how do i put it? Eh, during my break, some of my friends are still studying. Than they have breaks too, ranging from 2 weeks to 1 month. Than they go back to school. And i am still enjoying my break.

Well of cause coming from a middle-class family, i didn't stay at home and shake legs. Took on a few jobs here and there and really, i learned a lot.

My first job is at gramophone, the cathy branch.

Initially i applied for the position of retail assistant. But as gramophone is having a warehouse sale at the time of my application, i was sent to the admin side to sort out the goods for the sale. Wah lao. Not fun sia. Wei Chuan(yes, we applied together) and i have to tag mountains(literally) after mountains of CDs, VCDs and DVDs for 7 days straight. After the sale, we have to de-tag the same shit and sort out the mess the sale brought. When i say sort, i really mean sort. Title by title, supplier by supplier. That, is madness and it took us 2 to 3 weeks alone. I was supposed to stay on longer, till at least mid-August when my mind gave me a sign saying that my Graduation Project(GP) is more important. Hence, i leave around end July to fully concentrate on my GP.

11th Aug marks the end of my mugging for my GP and i find myself in a not-very-bad-but-not-very-good-either situation. Penniless and jobless, i have to find a job soon or else i will be eating air and drinking rain water everyday. But than, who is going to hire someone who can't commit fully for at least 3 months? So, i decided to find a permanent part-time job so that even when i start school, i can still continue working. It must be a coincidence that Starbucks, my favourite coffee joint is hiring.

Since than, i have embarked on a training journey towards being a Starbucks barista. It is fun, really, learning more about the different kinds of coffee and making caffe latte and mocha etc. Hopefully, i can pass my training without screwing up too much and not make my training coaches cut me up and stuff me into pastries to be sold.

One good thing i like about the training is that i have full control over the days of my training. This flexibility allows me to try something new - selling laptops at COMEX 2008.

This is the first time i become the person behind the booth trying to sell something to someone and not the person walking around trying to reject the someone behind the booth trying to sell something to me. I would say it is an enriching experience as i really learned a lot of valuable lessons. Really, in such a tough and competitive environment, you have to unleash all your salesman's skills or else you will just die in the clutter.

So i guess for now i will just try to complete my barista training as soon as possible while waiting for school to reopen. Having such a long break is kind of sianz actually and the motivation to study is really diminishing day by day.

Speaking of which, i realise day by day i am inching closer to my 21st birthday. Wow.

    21st Birthday sia! Adulthood man!

Ya, adulthood. While friends around me are holding birthday parties to welcome in adulthood with a bang, i have nothing in the works, seriously. I don't know but i don't see any point in holding one. To make it worse, my birthday falls on a thursday, a weekday stuck in the middle of nowhere. While friends are asking what am i going to do on my birthday, my usual reply is simply, "Stay home and sleep?" A loser reply. Yes i know. To be honest, there is a dilemma in my heart. Part of it wants to hold a party, inviting friends to come over to hang out. Another part of it wants to celebrate it alone. Add procrastination and the following equation appeared.

Dilemma + Procrastination = No plans for birthday

Well at least i can seek console in the fact that my family still remembers my birthday and today, i had a birthday lunch at Sushi Tei over at Vivo City. Wow. The food is good and even better is the service. We being a large group(6 adults and 2 rowdy brats) is a headache for any service crew at any restaurant. But the waitresses are rather patient and ensure all our needs and requests(we made quite a bit) were fulfilled. Kudos to them man!

Woo... this post is not as short as i expected it to be. Nevertheless, it is a relief to finally jot down my thoughts after so long. Right now, i just want to countdown to adulthood and enter it peacefully, preferably with a Starbucks Grande Vanilla Latte in hand. =)

    Joke of the Day...

    Natural Disasters

A lawyer and an engineer were fishing in the Caribbean. The lawyer said: "I’m here because my house burned down and everything I owned was destroyed by the fire. The insurance company paid for everything."

"That’s quite a coincidence," said the engineer. "I’m here because my house and all my belongings were destroyed by a flood, and my insurance company also paid for everything."

Puzzled, the lawyer asked: "How do you start a flood?
