Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

I just realised i have watched this good movie. Haha.

    Pirates of the Caribbean 3

The last of the Pirates's trilogy, this served as a conclusion and it has done well.

    Simply funny, simply good.

About the question most Singaporeans are concerned about, the part about Singapore, well, it SUCKS, big time. No doubt it is a fitting scene for the movie but as a Singaporean watching it, i don't feel anything in particular that my country is mentioned. Firstly, Singapore got a bath house back in the 18th century? Wow. And the citizens, all Chineses and no Malays?

Anyway, Singapore didn't get a lot of scenes so it is okay even if you miss it. What make me feel very very odd was when Chow Yun Fatt said, "Welcome to Singapore." To others, it is just a line. To me, wow. This line is going to be repeated everywhere in the world. Sounds so cool. Haha.

With so many blockbusters coming up this year, Pirates 3 has done well enough to become one you should not miss this year.

    Welcome to Singapore.

    Injured...

Oh man... i just got an injury. Was playing street soccer just now and a bad tackle caused me to suffer a blow to my lower right leg bone, the one surrounded by my calf.

All i can say is it is fucking painful. Can't even walk properly and climbing down any stairs is a torture. Currently applying an ice pack in hope that i can salvage anything.

Injuries are common you may say, so why make a big fuss about it? I can't agree more. However, why i am so sian is because tomorrow is student activity and the cheer Jurong is putting up has dance steps and requires people executing the cheer to move around.

Furthermore, how am i going to explain to my superiors when i report for work on Monday?

In the past, if i get myself injured, i just have to tell my mum, rest a few days and need not worry so much about other things.

Now, i have to tell my mum AND my superior and worry about whether i can go for work. Even if i go to work, what can i do? Do i need to see the MO to assess my injury? Furthermore, at my age, it will take a little more time to recover.

Same injury at different age and the effect on my life is so vast a difference. Maybe it is because i have more responsibilities now or simply i am getting older.

    Burnt...

Now i feel like i am a roasted pig, ready to be served. Was out in the sun all day and the sun was not very friendly. In fact, it managed to prevent the rain clouds from giving me the much needed shower.

Wah, how can like that de? The sun must be all out to make sure i am black and burnt. Haha.

Anyway, life has been a standstill these days. I don't know what is bothering me but there is this something that has been weighing in my heart for days. So serious is this something that i have no interest in doing anything at all except to just sit down at one corner and stone. Mood is definitely affected and i would say now that my mood sucks.

Of course i can't go on like that. Need to find back that focus, especially since the Senior Student Kenshu is round the corner.

And of course, the most important thing is to forget her...

    Heart Pain

    Right now, my heart hurts.

Not that kind lah! Or else i will be on the way to hospital liao.

My heart hurts emotionally. Throughout my growing years, i have crushes, lots of them. But, crushes are after all. crushes. After a while, you will get over them. However, there is a girl which after 3 years, the feeling is still there. I thought i have got over it after so long but i am wrong.

Today, in fact, just 15 minutes ago, i saw her at the market near my house.

    She is not alone.

    She is with a guy.

I can't remember the guy's features but they seems to be close, close to the stage of being in a relationship.

Why? Why let me see her again? Why of all places, the market near my house? Why can't i just forget her? Why must my memories be triggered again? Why can't things remain the way it was, the state where i have not thought about her for at least 1 year? Why?

    Ouch.

    Ouch.

    It hurts.

    Really.

    Updates...

Helo! Been a while since i managed to find the determination to sit down in front of my computer to do some updates. Haha. Simply too lazy lah.

[Warning: Long post ahead. Making yourself comfortable is advised and preferably with your favourite music playing in the background and some food and drink on the table]

Two weeks ago, I attended 2 performances, namely Stardust XVII and The Phantom Of The Opera.

    Stardust XVII

The former is a singing competition organised by NUS and i was there to support Jamie performing in the the group category. Wah! NUS got quite a lot of talents wor and you feel that you are attending a concert and not a competition. I especially like the performance by the 2 a capella groups as it was simply marvellous. But the judges were a bit kelong as most of us feel that the prizes were in a way handed to the wrong people. Oh well, maybe because they judged the competition from a professional viewpoint which differ from us.

One thing about my seat was that it is too far high up. The competition venue(NUS University Cultural Centre) was theatre-styled so the centre seats are gradually elevated towards the end and i happened to be sitting in the last row. The view was good but it is like the show is performancing at 1st level while you are watching from it from the 4th level. A pity Jamie walked home empty-handed but hey, in our hearts, she is already a winner. =)

The next day, San San, Alice and I watched The Phantom Of The Opera, one of the best show ever in theatre at the Esplanade.

    The POTO Mask

Be it the plot, the visual effect, the props, the songs, everything was perfect. Even the theatre(Esplanade Performance Hall) was wonderful and for a guy like me to watch the show in such a wonderful and grand setting, it is simply a great blessing. The performance by the actors and actresses is simply excellent and last part of the show was simply touching and it almost left me in tears. At the end of the day, you can't help but walk home truly satisfied for watching such a excellent show.

However, my seating arrangement was similar to the one at the Stardust competition venue. Although i could see all the actors and actresses and my view was rather good, the show has some parts that involved the Phantom hanging in the air and i can see none of it. But nevertheless, it was a wonderful experience. Next time, i shall watch the show in Broadway and get myself a better seat. =)

Caught 2 shows, Spiderman 3 and Blades of Glory.

    Spiderman 3

Spiderman 3 was okay lah. It was a little disappointing cause i am watching it as a fan of the original comic. It is not fair the way they gave Venom, Spiderman most powerful enemy so little attention. It seems that just want to touch and go on him. Furthermore, why must Venom movie screentime be shared with Sandman, a villian that not most of us remember? The only thing that comes out from this movie is its actions, which is simply good and the camera placing is better than the previous 2 installements. Spiderman and Spiderman 2 had rave reviews and high expectations were placed on Spiderman 3 yet it fails to deliver despite taking a longer time to produce. Haiz.

    Blades Of Glory

Blades Of Glory was simply hilarious. It is good for a comedy and Will Ferrell performance was great. Overall, the show is really for you to relax yourself and have a great laugh. =)

Other days, i was attending meeting after meeting. It was tiring, no doubt, but it gave me a sense of familiarity as i feel i was back to the old days. In the past, i would trot around the island attending meeting after meeting and yet i could still find the energy to go for PC activites that start in the morning, which means i would have to wake up ridiculously early despite sleeping ridiculously late the night before.

However, I suspect age is catching up with me(O.o). I could still handle the meetings but asking me to go for morning gongyo the next morning? Maybe next time... haha. But don't worry! I would find back the energy and zeal that i have in the past...

    Soon...
    .
    Ya... soon.
    .
    Real soon.
    .
    .
    .
Okay okay, maybe in the very near future.

    赤壁

Woohoo! They finally announced the cast for <赤壁> liao. Wah, a rather star-studded cast, though most of them hail from China. Oh my goodness. The choice was good for most of the characters but i don't understand the choice for 周瑜 and 诸葛亮. They should switch them la, seriously. 金城武 is far better being 周瑜 than 诸葛亮 and the same goes for 梁朝伟. In the novel, 周瑜 was described as a 美男子 and games based on 三国 never fail to emphasize that point. In the cast, 金城武 was clearly the 美男子 the novel described, so why gave him the role of 诸葛亮? Hmmm...

Liang Chao Wei And Jin Cheng Wu

Anyway, you may ask why am i so concerned over the cast for <赤壁>? Coz they are making a film touches on my favourite period in China's history. To me, 三国 is simply the most interesting period throughout China's history as there are so many characters, so many stories of heroic deeds or evil acts that it never fail to amaze me despite reading the story over and over again.

Hope they do a good job with <赤壁> and not let it become a major blockbuster that is so promising yet disappointing like the one not too long ago. And ya, hope they switch the actors for 周瑜 and 诸葛亮 too.

    Lazy...

Been lazy to update recently, no thanks to a writer's block. Furthermore, lots of things happened recently and they happen so fast, it is tough to catch a breather.

Besides, i am enjoying my off days, starting from yesterday till Tuesday. So ya, i am kind of lazy to sit down in front of a computer to create a post.

Right now, what i yearn for is a good message(but sadly, no one to do it for me) and a good, undisturbed sleep.

Don't worry, i will be back... soon.

Weekend, the two days in a week where everyone look forward to. It is a chance to rest or do something of our interest, as long as it a break from the daily routine.

My weekend was rather simple. Spend my Saturday with my sis and nephew. Was originally going to K with Ivy but due to some unforeseen circumstances, Sunday was spent at Orchard Road and well, I should stop myself from going there. There are simply too many things to buy at Orchard Road. Enter this shop and a nice shirt beckons you to bring it home. Next shop, the jeans you wanted so much is on sale. But take a look at your wallet and your heart sink down a bottomless pit. Ouch. I guess I can only visit Orchard Road on my payday or else, the more I walk, the more I want to buy and the more my heart sink…

    Navy Day...

Today is Navy Day and how could the Navy celebrate it without a parade? So, on a fine Saturday morning like today, I was at Changi Naval Base, attending the parade as part of the marching contingent. Nah, not as the Guard-Of-Honour contingent. Not so garang.

Wah, standing there, not moving and having to look smart for a long period of time not easy leh. Really a test of determination and an endless fight against distracting thoughts. So I sincerely salute my other batch mates, who are going to be part of the Navy’s Guard-Of-Honour for NDP.

We don’t see a lot of parade going on, save for the annual NDP and most of the time, we are the spectators. So today was rather special as for the first time, I am part of a parade, not as a spectator but rather, part of the marching contingent. But actually, it is nothing much lah. I mean, being in the military, you will definitely learn foot drills and the commands commanding your actions while in a formation. So a parade is basically the same as a foot drills session, just that the commands are a bit more complicated and you are wearing formal clothing.

Anyway, from the parade, I learned that practice really make perfect. You see, in order to make sure that everything run smoothly on the actual day, there are a lot of rehearsals. Rehearsals after rehearsals under the blazing sun had everyone so conversant with the parade sequence that we could even memorise the emcee speech. So it sort of become second nature to us and on the actual day, the parade went on smoothly without any hiccups.

Next week will be a busy week. Almost every night I have something on. Will be attending the finals of the competition Jamie is in at NUS on Monday, catching The Phantom Of The Opera at the Esplanade on Tuesday, doing duty in camp on Wednesday, going for my medical appointment on Friday and spending whole day in PC on Saturday. Wow. If only every week is as power-packed as this.
