    Land Phase...

This week marks the start of Land Phase and boy, it started with with a bang. For the first two days, we were whacked like there is no tomorrow just because we didn't standardise our stuff. You see, Land Phase is all about standardising our stuff so everyone will be using the same thing and we will look neat and disciplined.

Whacking aside, we learned how to operate 2 new weapons, the SAW and M203GL. Quite fun though but due to security reasons, shall stop here. Don't want to type my next post from DB ya?

Nothing much over this week... another "just-a-normal-week" week. Will be attending an ex-classmate mother's funeral later. Boy, what should I say later?

    Random...

You know sometimes when a group of people is separated, the distance between them increased? Was browsing through some of my fellow batch mates blogs when I realised that everyone had sort of go their own way...

Take the OOC guys for example. They lived in the 6th floor of DVS, they had RP duties and they book out more often than us. It is like... they are a whole new group of people who we can't associated with yet they are the ones who I spend my field camp and range with. The distance between me and them has become so large that I don't know what to say to them whenever we meet in camp.

Than there is the internal separation within CDC. 7 trainees with leadership potential had been taken out to embark on the SLC course. Although they deal with diving like us, they take it to a whole new level by becoming diving supervisors. Due to the differences in the nature of the course, they had their own programme and own schedule. Though we had more interaction with the SLC guys than the OOC guys but essentially, they are not with us and the feeling of distance is evident..

Maybe it is just me but sometimes, when there is a distance between friends, it is very hard to close up that distance, even though that guy might be your best friend at that certain stage in your life...

    Graduation

    26th batch... HOOYA 26th Batch!

Finally, after 6 months of intensive training, I have passed out from Combat Diving Course as a qualified Combat Diver. What a journey...

The graduation ceremony was held at NDU today. Simple but grand. Everything went smoothly. All our efforts over the past few weeks for the graduation has been worth it.

Having the badge pinned on our chest at the ceremony was a proud moment for the 65 of us. The course is not easy and really, sometimes you just wonder why are you going through this hardship. However, when you look at your own reflection in the mirror with the bage on, the tears, sweat and blood was worth it. We have grown from tadpoles to be part of the frogmen family, elites of the Navy.

Now we embark on a new journey. I don't know whether it will be a smooth-sailing one or one full of obstacles but at least I am assured I travel not alone but with my fellow friends, frogmen of the Navy.

    HOOYA!

Finally... finally i got my IPPT Gold. No, make it IPPT Diver's Gold. Woohoo!

    Standing Board Jump: 243cm
    Chin-up: 12
    Shuttle Run: 9.6 secs
    Sit-ups: 50
    2.4km Run: 9 mins 03 secs

Wah lao... not easy man. OCS need only 234cm for SBJ and under 9 mins 45 secs for 2.4. So unfair.

Anyway, the whole batch tried US PT on Friday. Objective is to choose the Best PT Trainee. Wah siong sia... 500m swim, rest 10 mins, max no. of push-ups within 2 mins, rest 2 mins, max no. of sit-ups within 2 mins, rest 2 mins, max no. of chin-ups within 2 mins, rest 10 mins, 2.4km run. Shall not reveal my results here... kind of shitty. But it was a totally new experience. Get to taste how PT over at US is like. Each country has their own way of doing PT which they think is best for their soldiers so we can't really say which country has the best PT but it is good to try some new things once in a while.

Graduation is approaching. In fact, it is only 5 days away. More people are busier these days, either helping out in the graudation planning, the graduation show or stuff related to graduation. The feeling is graudation is hanging around in the air and I can say that what everyone look forward to is that tiny little diver's badge. For that badge, we literally slog ourselves out. Looking back, we have gone through so many things as a batch.

Sea-circuit, one that test your endurance, both physically and mentally. It is our answer to all kind of SOC the Army has to offer.

Sea-swim, one that test your stamina in the water.

6km timed run, one that test your stamina on land.

There are other tests and training we do too but lets leave it for later post. For now, let me soak in happiness knowing that the course I am in now is almost over and my suffering is worth it. Oh man, can't wait to lay my hands on that badge.

    Nua-ing...

The past two weeks was simply heaven. Been nua-ing as there are too many breaks.

First is the Deepavali and Hari Raya Puasa break. Since the instructors see no point of training us on Monday if we have to book out on Monday evening, they decided to save all the hassle and let us book in Tuesday night, allowing us to have one super long weekend. Hooya!

Second is the training program. Remember i bitched about having to stay back on a Saturday in the last post? It was worth it. We are kind of ahead schedule and due to a lot of other factors, our traning was rather short, allowing us to have more free time, which lead us to the third point.

We were given a day off on Thursday and an another half-day off on Friday. HOOYA! Rather shiok to be home on a Friday afternoon than in camp, struggling to settle everything fast so we can book out early.

In short, i only stayed in camp for 6 and 1/2 days out of a possible 10. Woohoo!

BUT... was whacked again due to our dip in discipline... shall not go into details here. And 祸不单行, i failed my LAR V Theory Test. Oh great...

Anyway, shall not let these sad things bother my nua-ing session that i predict will last throughout the weekend.
