    Bangkok... day 1

Okay okay i admit i am lazy. Returned so long le still never blog about my adventures in Bangkok. So i decided to do it today. =)

It will be in five parts(five days mah) and every day one part. Hee. Sound like a 连续剧 hor?

    Okay here goes first part...

18/2/06 is definitely a day to remember. Why? Cause Kelly Poon will be holding her first ever autograph session for her debut album. Huh? Oops, wrong place liao. I mean, this is the first time i will be going to Bangkok with my brothers(Wei Jie and Wei Yang)! WOOHOO!

But as i said, first time mah, so there are a lot of things to prepare. What is worse is that on the day of departure, i am still packing. Hee. Even got scolded by my mum when i went to the library to get a travel guide on Bangkok. But hey, i brought enough! So no worry man!

Travel Tips: Find out about the weather at your destination place first before packing. You don't want to bring just tees and shorts when it is winter over at your destination right? Oh, remember to plan the amount of clothes you are bringing and remember to make plans for the ones you will be wearing to board the plane, ie, when will you be wearing it again later on in the trip. Lastly, prepare a waist pouch or some small bag that you can bring it around everyday to keep your valuables. Oh, one last thing, always ensure you brought your passport with you before leaving the house. Check that it is with you before you leave the house.

I carried only 2 bags, one 3/4 filled and one 1/4 filled. Reached airport at around 3 plus and met up with Wei Jie and Wei Yang. But i very de 不爽. No FAIR man! Both had their girlfriend to send them off while i only have the air to send me off. Hmph!

Travel Tips: If your trip is meant to be a shopping one, prepare extra bags to store your purchases or include bags in your shopping list. You don't want to board the plane with 10 plastics bags on your hand right?
If your trip is more of sight-seeing, prepare the necessary accessories like extra batteries for your camera etc. Keep your luggage simple. You don't want to be burdened by extra and useless things right?

After all the standard procedures we finally get on the plane.

    Sushi Roll!
My luggage! Don't they look like sushi rolls? Haha

    JetStarAsia Plane
Rather small though but hey, it is a Airbus with leather seats wor. Beside, what else can you expect from a budget airline?

    Wei Jie 1

    Wei Jie 2

Wei Jie is particulary 自恋 and you are sure to find more pictures of him later on.
    But look! The beautiful clouds!

    View from above

    Clouds
Reminds me of red blood cells clotting a wound. Really!

After a 3 hour ride, we finally arrived in Bangkok. Woohoo!

I want to complain man! They took very long man! Just look at the queue. Low efficiency man! Boy, i simply love Singapore's efficiency!

Travel Tips: Depending on which airline you are travelling in, it is best to check in 2 hours before departure time. For normal airlines, if you want to get good seats, check in at least 2 hours before departures. For budget airlines, check in at once the check-in counters are open. We check in 1 hour and 30 mins before departure and we got seats right at the back, just in front of the toilet.

Oh, for the first time, we have to tell the taxi driver to go by meter. Lolz. Furthermore, the fare amounted to $250 man! Wah! Taxi fare in terms of hundreds man! Oops, forget to tell you it is 250 bahts. Hee.

Travel Tips: Always tell the taxi driver in Bangkok to go by meter. If they refused, get out. At the hotel, ask the receptionist about the safe. Some hotels have safe in individual rooms while some have safe specially at one corner of the hotel. Remember to deposit your extremely valuables in it. You don't want to risk losing it. Before going out, ask the porter or receptionist for the address of the hotel. Normally they would give you a small piece of paper with a map printed on it. If not, ask the staff to copy down the address for you. This will ensure that when you show the address to the taxi driver, you are brought to the correct place. Lastly, if you are venturing into somewhere new, always ask the staff or concierge for more information. They will give you advice and the things to take note when going into that new place, like how far it is, what to expect etc.

After settling down in our room by the name of 1070(go buy 4-D) at The Twin Tower Hotel, we are raring to go! First stop is Suan Lum(pronounced as Suan Loom, not Suan Lum like Wei Jie always say) Night Bazzar.

    Elephant on the streets!
This was taken outside our hotel. Elephant walking on the street man! Cool eh?

    Suan Lum open-air food court
Look at the crowd at Suan Lum man!

    Food @ Suan Lum
    Food, glorious food!

Wah, their open-air food court damn big man! Confirm the size of a football field. Coincidently, on both side of the food court there are two hugh screen showing the match between Liverpool and Manchester United. Liverpool won 1-0.
At one side of the food court is a stage and after the match, there is a band and some singers entertaining the crowd. Eh, sorry huh but we don't understand Thai. =p

One of the performer at Suan Lum
Wei Yang say she quite pretty. Really huh?

Anyway, after that filling dinner which only cost us 480bahts(S$20), we went into the night bazzar. Wah! Very big leh! Can get lost in it one.

Superman, Spiderman, Batman and... Wei Jie??
Superman, Spiderman, Batman and Wei Jie??

We got quite a lot of things here. Tee shirts, wallet and watch etc. However, our undergraduate student, Wei Yang, mistook a 500 bahts note for a 100 bahts note and 傻傻的 pass it to the stallkeeper for a watch that we bargained down to 520 bahts. So he is actually paying 920 bahts for a 520 bahts watch. Bro, nevermind hor, doing charity right?

Our whole shopping trip took around 2 hours and boy, my legs are complaining and threatening to go on strike. Don't worry legs. We won't walk liao cause most stalls close liao. =)

Oh, according to Wei Yang, Thailand tap water unsafe for consumption. So we went to stock up on mineral bottles. You should have seen the shock expression on the auntie's face when we told her we want 12 mineral bottles.

That is all for day one. Will update day 2 to 5 at a later time. =)

Oh ya, before i go, the 12 bottles was finished by Monday. Guess what, Wei Yang alone finished 6. What a 水桶!
